1. Insurance Premium Tax & VAT

The Chancellor of the Exchequer has announced that the standard rate of Insurance Premium Tax applicable to most general insurance premiums is to increase from 5% to 6% with effect from 4th January 2011.

In addition, the higher rate of IPT (applicable to travel and certain products sold with motor insurance) will also increase from 17.5% to 20% with effect from 4th January 2011.

Also, Value Added Tax (VAT) is increasing from 17.5% to 20% with effect from 4th January 2011.

2.CQC

4. Business Interruption

Business interruption will protect a business for loss of income as a result of an insured loss. It is also known as business income or loss of profits.
